the wife,s uncle died at Arnhem,and on the 60th anniversary we went over,if a veteran was walking down the street,the local people stood aside to let him pass.When we mentioned this they said “unless you,ve been occupied you don,t know how much we owe to them”,nearly all the houses had union jacks hanging outside,and at the service in the cemetery local school children placed flowers on the graves they had adopted and cared for thruout the year.I never will forget how the Dutch people treated the vet,s we were with,bless them…
