Hawk Industries GAF-125 (The what?!)

A fascinating story and historical find about a plane that might have rivalled the Caravan had it completed its certification.

I like it:D Shame they won’t let it fly. How about trying to register it in another country?

Reading between the lines of the web site mentioned above, I’d say there must be something pretty serious with its aerodynamics or structure for the FAA not to let it fly, even with a restricted permit (the type that allows non-certified aircraft, like many warbirds, to be used for limited commercial purposes like firefightng, spraying, and some cargo uses).

Overall, the FAA usually gives one a lot of rope to hang ones self.

On the other hand, it just might be a maintence issue, or perhaps some inspector has a bee in his bonnet. Also, the site seems to indicate that the plane was flying commecially in the 90s.
Doubt if we’ll ever know the whole story.

What a beast. It looks like the result of a night of passion between two other ugly beasties, the An-2 and the Skyvan
