Contrailing Warbirds…

Hi All;

I’m sure that in the deepest recesses of my grey matter, I have the recollection of a thread asking if any modern warbirds had flown at a high enough altitude to contrail. I think that the following Youtube clip might answer that question…

Enjoy:)

Appologies if this has already appeared, as I tried searching for the previous thread on this subject and couldn’t find it!

Steve

Just a though..

But does anybody have any idea of the identities of the two Mustangs in this video, and/or what the purpose of this sortie was???

Just curious and surprised that this video has caused so little interest!

I remember reading Ormond Haydon-Baillie’s account of ferrying his Sea Fury across the North Atlantic, he had a very heart stopping moment when looking back over his shoalder he could see a long white trail, at first he thought it was oil smoke, then realised it was vapour.
