Aircraft at Glastonbury ?

Did any body else notice the fleeting glimpses of aircraft during the BBC coverage of Glastonbury. I saw an interview in the cockpit of a large airliner type. And also in the back ground was what looked to be the fuselage of an Andover in transport command livery.

To me these look more like something from the BAe146/ Avro RJ family, perhaps relics from the cancelled RJX project a few years back? Just my best guess.

Definatly BAe146/ Avro RJ family, almost certainly an uncompleted airframe from the RJX project.

Glastonbury aircraft

I was at Glastonbury myself and also surprised to find aircraft in the circus area! The fuselage was indeed an Andover – it was former 32 Squadron Andover C.1 XS641, complete apart from the extreme rear fuselage and still in its RAF colours, but gutted inside. This was previously a ground instructional airframe at Cosford until sold off in 2005, initially going to a yard in Cheshire, then reported as being sold to someone ‘in the London area’, but I have no further details.

The airliner type cockpit was also stripped out and heavily modified externally to resemble some sort of space shuttle, with lots of bits added, a triagular platform behind which was acting as a small stage with upturned ‘wings’ at either side. Difficult to tell what it had originated from.

Both seemed to be associated with a bar alongside, but could not find anyone who knew anything more about where they had come from and presumably have now gone back to, if the mud has dried out enough by now to be able to truck them away again!

Cheers,

Could these possibly be from uncompleted British Aerospace ATP twin turboprop airliners? I know the last few were never finished and ended up as fire trainers. These cockpits look as if they’ve never been painted, which would fit for these unflown aircraft, and they look about right for an ATP (A.K.A Jetstream 61 as BAe later called it, or ‘Dragmaster’ as everyone else called it!).

These are from 2005. Probably what you saw?
