As in past years a raffle will be held at the Red Lion, Whittlesford after Flying Legends on the evening of Saturday 6th July, to raise funds for a worthy cause.
This year has the usual aviation connection, however it is also something that has no doubt touched all of us at some point in our lives or will in the future.
The link is here RAF Cpl Nick Lock
As usual we are looking for prizes and also people to buy tickets. Last year we topped the £200 mark, with your help we can do it again and hopefully help the serviceman obtain the treat he so deserves.
If you do make it to the Red Lion, make sure you say hello. We’ll be the loudest group at the pub.

All but one of the prizes have been claimed, however we are still a few quid short from those who pledged money. If you did, and still intend to pay up, can you please forward to me as soon as possible, I would like (and think it’s important to) to post the cheque in the next week.
Thanks

A Big Thank You
A big thank you to everyone who took part in the Raffle on Saturday evening, we broke the £200 mark, and if all the outstanding pledges come in we could be in the realms of £300.
Special mention should be made to the guys and girls at www.ops1940.homestead.com who not only had a whip around to bolster the coffers but also made the atmosphere at the Red Lion something special with their wartime renditions.
The was also a group of German pilots from Hamburg who joined in the fun and also put up with my very un pc reaction to them announcing that they were German.

Another super prize, a copy of Alex Crawford’s book on the Hawker Nimrod and Fury. This has been kindly donated by a certain anonymous Australian gentleman with a passion for Tweed and old “British” Sports Cars. However due to the time constraints it won’t be in the pile of prizes at Legends, this anonymous gentleman will arrange for it to be mailed direct to the lucky winner.

Had a call from a contact in the UK today, and it has been confirmed that some kind people at Duxford have donated a number of redundant pieces from their Spitfire, including a dive and bank indicator and glass fibre canon port. They have also included several T shirts and a calendar.
There is another item, which after a short discussion this lunch time we feel would be better off auctioned rather than raffled. Details of this will be posted a little later, it is well worth waiting for.
