Brussels Air Museum (Please read it)

Hi,

I wanted to draw your attention to this important petition that I recently signed:

“Brussels Air Museum future”
http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/BAM2007?e

I really think this is an important cause, and I’d like to encourage you to add your signature, too. It’s free and takes less than a minute of your time.

Thanks !

I think I am correct in saying that the Belgium Air Force cares quite well for its old aircraft

You’re joking right? 🙁

What / where are the storage areas ? Could these be refurbished first and made secure before exhibits are moved, then used for a future aviation museum / restoration site. Hopefully some ‘joined up thinking’ can bring together a new long term result. I think I am correct in saying that the Belgium Air Force cares quite well for its old aircraft but there is not a ‘BAF Museum’.

The petition is multi-lingual, a donation is optional.

Well, you don’t have to donate, just registering your name and/or letting your opinions known will suffice.
I can certainly understand the concerns voiced at
http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/BAM2007/index.html .
There aren’t that many museum renovation projects being undertaken where the exhibits are already moved even before the budget has been outlined!

And the premises to where the aircraft are moved to… Well, the word “run down” could be considered a complimentary description!

I wish to add my support to the campaign to keep the aircraft at the Military Museum, indeed expansion should be a long term consideration. The building itself is a magnificent exhibit and deserves conservation, moving of some aircraft and temporary close of the display hall will be neccessary. Surely the best solution would be to erect a temporay structure, in front of the museum to to house some of the smaller aircraft, ie the jets on the ground floor, this would allow refurbishment works to the carried out in one half of the building. The more fragile WW1 types displayed on the first floor could be protected ‘insitu’ thus avoiding the cost, and risk of damage, during a move to storage. Let all hope for a statisfactory conclusion.
