Just been on Newark’s website and they now have 30 cockpits booked in – looking very busy in a few weeks time!
“Cockpit-Fest 2007 – update 07
This year’s Cockpit-Fest event has attracted an unprecedented level of pre-bookings for visiting cockpits. Still with two weeks to go until the actual event on Saturday 16th & Sunday 17th June 2007 we now have 30 cockpits booked in.
This represents the highest ever number of pre-booked cockpits in the entire eight year history of the event!”

There isn’t a cockpit that can’t attend the cockpit fest (or any other event), even a Vulcan could be taken ,you just have to want to do it; unfortunately most people don’t.

…. Perhaps we should have a new category, for restored cockpits that for logistical reasons, cannot be brought to the show!
😮
Oh, don’t suggest that! I’m sure it is hard enough to persuade some people to come as it is. 😀 😀

Ah, it now makes sense, but I guess there could be only one Bruce!;)
Why not take along the Trident from the de Havilland Heritage Centre?

Eh, what, errm who, me?
Yes, I will provide prizes to the value of £100 again this year. I only hope that the prizewinners will collect them.
I intend to make sure tat Tony Collins, who, I believe is not computer oriented, does collect something for last years efforts!

I thought that the following item from the Newark Air Museum website might be of interest to any undecided Cockpitfest exhibitors:
“Cockpit-Fest Update [08]
For the second year running Bruce Gordon of Norfolk based Great British Aircraft Spares has generously agreed to provide some additional prizes for this year’s event on June 16th & 17th.
As with the 2006 event Bruce has offered prizes to the value of £100 for each winner of the different competition categories, which supplements the prizes provided by the main event supporter FlyPast Magazine.
Cockpit owners can still participate if they contact the museum by phone 01636 707170, so don’t miss out and remember to visit the Great British Aircraft Spare website at www.gbairspares.co.uk

Sounds good to me, I took my 15 year old son along with his instrument panels for the first time last year. He loved it so much, that he wanted his own cockpit to display! It had to fit in the garage, tow easily behind a family car, preferably British and be cheap! about a month later he bought a complete Beagle Pup fuselage with his own savings, which we have now cut down to a cockpit.
We all enjoyed the event so much that this year we are going to camp overnight. Cockpitfest is a briliant event, run by a great bunch of people, with good suport from a certain magazine. There is a great bunch of poeople who go along, both to exhibit and to just look around.
If you have never been before, we recomend it, and if you get hooked, a cockpit can be cheap, my son has done it on his pocket money (and last years winnings!).
If you see a lad with a Pup and a fat dad, say high to us.
