Info on Ken Fenton, RAF, POW.

Hi,

I have been researching my Father’s, Ken Fenton’s, war time experiances from the destruction of his 139 squadron Blenheim on 1st July 1941 with his crew, AA Fuller and RW McDonald to his liberation in April/May 1945. I know he was in Dulag Luft, Stalag IXc (Bad Sulza), Stalag Luft’s 3 and 6 and eventually Stalag 357, Thorn and Fallingbostal. I know he did escape with Sgt. J. McCairns from Bad Sulza but they were both recaptured and l have the details of this and McCairns subsequent escape to England.

This is all fairly well documented but details are sketch elsewhere so any help would be appreciated.

What l am trying to find out is whether my Father left Fallingbostal or was liberated there. I have spoken to a RAF ex-POW who knew him and believes he was marched out with himself and the others but cannot give me any more information. This fellow was involved in the disaster at Gresse and helped with the burial of the POW’s lost.

Has anyone found any records suggesting when various POW’s were liberated and how they were logged home. I know from his service record that he was at Cosford on the 10th May and his liberation questionaire is dated 11th May but do not know what happened in between.

Any help with any information would be much appreciated.

Regards,

Nick
