Does anyone what Scientology is , something to do with Aliens?

Some folk here seem to have missed the recent furore over the BBC Panorama programme which had a look at this and the unfortunate explosion of the BBC interviewer John Sweeney, an explosion which can be understood by the actions of the scientologists and the invasion of Sweeney’s body space.

See:
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/programmes/panorama/6655207.stm

and, if you can, watch the video behind the ‘Watch Panorama: Scientology and Me.

Scientology a would be religion, more a cult, founded on the lies and frauds of one L Ron Hubbard, much loved by those with more money than sense or unfortunately those with not that much money seemingly many of the latter have been taken in and defrauded of not only their cash but their life causing much distress to their families in the process.

Further discussion can be found at:

http://richarddawkins.net/article,1070,BBC-man-says-I-was-wrong-to-lose-it-But-these-scientologists-are-truly-scary,John-Sweeney-The-Daily-Mail

and

http://richarddawkins.net/article,1068,Row-over-Scientology-video,John-Sweeney-BBC-News

Scary stuff, particularly when a senior police officer, Chief Superintendent Kevin Hurley, appears to endorse this organisation with his presence at the opening of their new London headquarters

Watch out for this crowd pushing for charitable status.

What’s the interior like? I’ve heard it looks nothing like a stock mustang. Leather interior and the works.

The former Montana Miss? A complete PITA to work on.:( For starters they clearcoated the paint so everytime ya remove or open a hatch etc it cracks & peels off. Then the previous owner was in the construction business so the Merlin is painted JCB orange.
Put extra tanks in the gun bays & it took damn near THREE DAYS to remove all the extraneous crap from the cockpit so I could get the floorboards up & swap out the fittings on the fuel guages(& refit it all), this is normally a 20-30 minute job. Every bloody panel has foam backed leather on it & have been made larger to reduce gaps. Half the screws had stripped heads & the only that weren’t stripped were only like that because they were completely inaccessible…Thats why everything had to come out to get the floorboards up….

…actually thats a slight exageration, I didn’t remove the rudder……;)

Maybe I can clear this up in a couple of days.
Pete Regina at Van Nuys does the Annuals on Toms P51. He is also Steven Craigs *go to guy* when it comes to warbirds. I’ve worked with Pete on Toms P51 & Stevens Staggerwing & Wildcat…
Just called & left a msg on Petes answering machine at the hangar… stay tuned…

Comedy moment:
First worked on Toms P51 when he had just bought it. Pete flew it over the VanNuys from SM & a few days later when it was returned to Toms hangar it had a “MAVERICK” decal on the canopy rail…. dunno how that got there..;)
It was removed at Toms hangar by the guy who looks after his jets…

Oddly enough, the same thing happened the following 2 or 3 times it came over to Van Nuys….

That statement doesn’t sit well with his belief in Scientology

Maybe Ron L Hubbard told him to?

wouldn’t the cost depend on the rarity of the Mk in question?

If you read the thread over at the WIX board, http://warbirdinformationexchange.org/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=13424 it looks like it may be just him looking at someone else’s new mustang.

It would seem that the worst fears of many a Spitfire owner have been realised, and that the value is falling, proportionally with the numbers being restored; price drop tv channel anyone?

Speaking of warbird prices…
I see a Corsair is being offered at $4 million U.S…that sounds a bit high to me…but it’s a recent restoration.
And from what I read in Trade-a-Plane, a Mustang is usually $1.5 to 2 million.
What’s the going price for a nice Spitfire?

His first one is called ‘Kiss Me Kate’.

He’s probably worn it out already by jumping up and down on the seat.

I guess he could be buying the CA-18 as they’re meant to be ar better than the P-51D, and he may flick on the former one.

The price seems to be climbing on Warbirds at an amazing rate didn’t Marion just sell at over $3m. Also have heard that certain rare early Mk Corsairs seem to have reached over the 3m mark as well. Sign of a health interest anyways.

Or is it simply down to the current exchange rate between the Pound and the US Dollar. As the Pound is currently so strong UK and EU buyers can get some good deals. Conversely for the Americans the weaker Dollar means that they have to pay more.
