Wet, windy and very cold day at Bruntingthorpe today unfortunately – still, plenty of people and had a few visitors to our SRA (Slow Reaction Alert, as opposed to the Lightning boys Quick Reaction Alert) hangar. The owner of the second Beech 18 at Bruntingthorpe, N2500 with the Volpar tricycle undercarriage conversion decided to fire her up, took a couple of clips on my camera and uploaded them to youtube for anyone interested

Here’s a few pics from the saturday off my camera phone (came out quite well I reckon), didn’t take any on sunday (after i’d filled up my camera memory card with the video clips, fingers were too numb with cold to change them!)

Naval Encounter

Volpar Beech

Two Beech’s together (is this the closest two Beech 18s have been in the UK since the three Beech 18s including Naval Encounter at were stored at Prestwick in the 70s?)

And last but not least, the guys making it all happen – Phil and Ade working on the SRA hangar (plus PT probably somewhere down there helping out)
Oh and by the way Ben, I liked the Beech Restorations inscription on the far end of the hangar door concrete standing 😀

sunday
Oh do tell, who didn’t want us to store his airoplane in our hangar for free then take it out when people got close, do tell.
I think that i will tell my local garage not to let anyone see my car when it is in for a service. Am i stupid or what.
If you are reading this Dear anonymous owner, please take your aircraft away and please do not darken our door again.
As they say If it quacks it is probably a duck, if it says stupid things it is probably stupid. Also we are exhibiting our workmanship not anything else, got it mr anonymous
sorry chaps but this chap does get me a tad annoyed.
think i should post a pic of the rear fus ben, what do ya think.

Unfortunately not (unless you count the ferry flight from Wick-Sywell-Bruntingthorpe) – I believe the plan is to fully repaint her first before flying again (so far only the engine cowlings have been repainted, and very nice they look too!)

I’ve very interested Rob, thanks for posting them.
I’ve got a bit of a soft spot for the Beech 18, and it’s good to see footage of tge Volpar conversion. Has it ever flown in the UK since it was imported?
