I overheard at Duxford on the 5th May that the Vulcan XH558 was to get airborne on the 27th May this year and might be appearing at biggin hill in june will she be going to the southport airshow this year ? Also will she be flown with as much gusto as she did in her last few seasons,
Also am I right in the fact that many RAF Displays have been cancelled this year including the Tornado and Harrier any help would be appreciated:)

I presume Kinloss rather than Kinross..
No, Kinross it is.
Some showground in the middle of nowhere, just right for an air display:confused:

RAF Displays for 2007:
Reds, BBMF, Falcons, Typhoon solo, Tucano, Tutor, Hawk, Chinook, Sea King SAR Demos. (No Tornado GR4, Tornado F3, Harrier, Merlin, C130J solos).
The RAF is however staging “role demos” at selected venues – Abingdon; Biggin Hill; Cosford; Kemble; Waddington; RIAT; Kinross – which will see Tornado GR4s, Tornado F3s, Hawks, Merlins, Chinooks, C130J, E3D Sentry performing co-ordinated routines.

Shame!!!
No HS125, Dominie again!!!!
An RAF Stalwart if ever there was one – well, long in the tooth anyway.

Dr. Pleming,
Firstly congrats on a cracking project, secondly Im sorry to hear that 558 probably wont be on the Falklands Flypast. Your team have worked bl00dy hard to get this far and I can imagine theyre probably just as upset by the setback as every one else is. Keep up the good work and all the best. Thanks for the update. No Vulcan Flypast for Falklands 25
From the VOC web site, I think its the PFCU seals thats been the problem.
It was our hope that restoration work would have been concluded in time to enable XH558 to participate in the Falklands commemorative events, but we have had a delay in the return of one set of critical-to-flight components from overhaul.
Unfortunately, it is therefore doubtful that XH558 will be flying in time for the Falklands commemoration on 17th June. However all other aspects of the work are proceeding to plan. For example, this week will see the Vulcan’s landing gear being reinstalled and the aircraft returned to her wheels.
When we know more about the length and impact of the delay, which will hopefully be short, we will provide a further update.

Is the Solo Eurofighter Typhoon Display cancelled for this year aswell ?

Hi mate,
Before the doom-mongers jump in here, as a TVOC engineer, I can tell you quite categorically that XH558 will definitely not be getting airborne at the Bruntingthorpe open day, nor ever has been due to appear. Aside from the fact that she is clearly not ready yet, even if 558 was sat in the hangar 100% serviceable, there does not exist the necessary insurance cover or display authority required by the CAA. This is just another of the unfounded rumours currently doing the rounds.
For more accurate and up to date info, visit http://www.tvoc.co.uk particularly the forum section, which is updated almost daily by the engineering staff.
As an aside, yes, most of the display solos have been cancelled this year, but “replaced” by the RAF role demo, though it remains to be seen how popular this is!!
Hope this helps
