I am seeking any photos of Cambridge University Air Squadron Chipmunk WG304 My friend scion asked a few days ago but got the number wrong. The aircraft went to the US after leaving the RAF where it was painted in a typical american over the top red white and blue stars and stripes scheme and then to Australia and eventually on to me. I wish to repaint it in the red white grey? scheme as depicted on the CUAS website and hope that my aircraft was in fact painted this way. I also want to find a picture of the Cambridge UAS crest as painted on the aircraft side. So far all requests to CUAS remain unanswered. If anyone can come up with a drawing showing roundel position and dimensions that would be a huge bonus.

RAF Chipmunks did not get repainted into the red/white/grey scheme until 1971 and as WG304 was not retired until 1975, it most certainly would have worn this scheme. Whilst it did indeed serve with Cambridge UAS, it’s final days were with 5 Air Experience Flight at Cambridge also. However, I do not know the transfer date, so am unable to confirm the markings when with CUAS. I have photos of other CUAS Chipmunks but not this one.

Rod should be able to help and might have a period shot of your machine handy!
