Came across this story on the Frazer Nash Car Club website about the sole surviving FN25 ventral gun turret
http://www.frazernash.co.uk/news/story.asp?pageID=492
Does anyone have any photos of this sort of gun turret etc? I’ve found a bit of information on the web about it, and all I could find on this forum was this old thread
http://forum.keypublishing.co.uk/showthread.php?t=20974&highlight=fn25
As for it only been fitted to early Wellington 1’s, does this mean the sort with proper turrets fore and aft, or does it also include the earlier variant with just one machine gun at each end?
Cheers, Rob

The retracting system of this type of turret was modified to fit the Leigh lights in Coastal Command’s Wellingtons during the war. An example is on show at Hendon IIRC

The book ‘British Aircraft Armament Vol 1’ has a bit on the turret (and all the other types). If all is not explained by others, in the meantime, I’ll see what I can add tomorrow.
I didn’t think any had survived!
