Book review – Veteran's true story

Hi – may I please advise you of a recent book publication which has been received very well. This is not a commercial interest but more a way of informing members of a book which deserves more recognition. So I hope I am not contravening any forum rules in doing so.

It is a a true story written by my father in law and is titled Alone I Fly and is available in paperback for £6.99 +p&p.

He served in the RAF (104 squadron) as a bomber pilot in the N Africa campaign. On his first mission he was shot down; all the crew perished and he managed to survive days in the desert awaiting rescue. He tells of this and other hair raising missions and unusual posts in a very exciting yet humorous way. I assure you it is a very good read. But dont take my word for it. Here are some comments from people who have bought the book.

Celebrity Review – Bill Bailey the comedian from Never Mind the Buzzcocks (same name as author!) read it and found it a gripping read and a fascinating picture of wartime life
He even went as far as to mention it on his own website.

Other reviews –
It really was a great read.Lately Ive had 3 or 4 books on the go which I’ve left unfinished but this one was completed in a few days! HIGHLY recomended.

This is one of the best WWII aircrew memoirs I have read. Bill has written a very readable account of his life on active service in the RAF. It is both humorous and poignant, but never maudlin.

I must say, the book is great. I think people of all ages and backgrounds would find it an absolutely fabulous read. The book is extremely well written, and written from the heart! I will certainly be recommending it to all my friends and family

These are just a few of the comments received. More information & reviews is available from http://www.aloneifly.com You can buy the book from that site or if you prefer from ebay where it is often listed.

Happy reading! 🙂
