Building ID help

Hi all

This may not be “historic” in the terms of the forum, however I do know the people who frequent this are the ones most likely to help.

The attached photos were taken just south of Hibaldstow airfield in Lincs, just north of the village of Waddingham. I discovered the site when I flew over it last Tuesday, from the air it screamed former military so we went to view it from the ground on Saturday. It’s a linear layout with the sheds spaced close together on both sides of a concrete roadway. There’s what looks to be a picket post and the remains of wire fencing on concrete posts, angled inwards, suggesting it was to keep something in, rather than stopping people getting in.

POW? No windows, bomb stores? “Sheds” too closely situated, indeed is it former military at all? Modern maps show them as poultry sheds, is that a secondary usage or indeed were they always poultry sheds?

Any views or opinions greatly received and apologies if this is in the wrong place.

Cheers

Remember these well, alongside the Redbourne road, Not been to Hibaldstowe for years now since landing out there in the seventies, place was always famous as the airfield were one WAAF Margret Horton took a quick and unexpected circuit on the tail of a spitfire,
As to the sheds, Brother who has lived up around there since Noah passed by says they have always been known as the former chicken sheds though he suspects they were once something to do with Kirtons activities, he knows some of the locals and has promised to ask around for more information, if anything turns up, i,ll post it.

Can’t help I’m afraid, but I too am rather intrigued as to the origins of this site! Hope you get the answer you are looking for!
