Winter is over and it’s a good time to take care of your skis. Well preserved will survive long time. Those on Norwegian Gladiators were not so good and caused loss of two aircraft. Luckily without casualties.
Comparing photographs of skis used on Gladiators of Haerens Flyvapen and on Finnish and Swedish mounts I realised that all three Air Forces used three different types of skis. Who is able to tell more about Norwegian skis? Did they manufacture their own type? Who was the manufacturer? What kind of stencilling is visible on the skis of the attached photograph?

And there is another view of the Finnish type skis. Those on the picture had different top fairing with additional step very useful for maintenance.
But studying of Finnish skis still not solved my problems with Norwegian ones. Is it possible that the only difference between all of the scandinavian skis is the fairings?
And it is not the end of Norwegian Gladiators mysteries…

Might check with nuav.net, the Norway during WW2 forum. Someone there might be able to point you in the right direction.

I thought you might like a comparison with those fitted to the Glad that’s in the Swedish AF museum.
