Hi;
As the title says…just a couple silly questions regarding membership of the Friends of the Fighter Collection.
1: Does membership include access to the “Friends” tent at Legends, or is there an extra charge for this? Or, indeed is the “Friends” tent for us members anyway? I’m only making assumptions here after all as no mention is made on the website, and it’s not like you receive any bumpf when your membership card drops through the door.
2: Do you get notified when your membership expires and that a renewal is due? I joined last year, and I’m sure that my membership must have expired by now…I just can’t remember when exactly I joined!!
3: I opted for the family membership as Junior is developing my interests (that’s ma boy)…But my membership card doesn’t indicate that it is family membership that I have…how does one tell???
I know that I will get told to direct my queries to TFC, and I have done just that. I was just after a few possible alternative views from other TFC Friends members (sure there must be a few here)..
Thanks in advance;
Steve.

While a thread is running on FoTFC,I thought I’d ask if there is any news or chance of a friends hangar evening this year.It was in March last year so I thought I would ask the question as its getting dangerously close to the 2007display season.

There is always a chance that there will be an Evening with TFC, but not before Legends. Keep an eye on the website.

I believe Grayfly meant that the postage killer is the new rate for A4 size envelopes in which Fighter Log is posted.
I understand talking to someone today that amongst other things the new system will make the process of subscription renewal notification more efficient and will trial the idea of email notification, where that information exists.
Best way is to give people a choice, receive the fighter log as a hard copie ore by email. Want to receive a hard, they have to pay extra to cover the cost for postage.

In this day and age, a reminder can be sent by email. I know not every one has got his email listed, but am sure a lot have. That is a quick way to save a lot of money. Mhh and I work for a postal company.

Again, thanks for the suggestions, we are certainly considering direct debits and more interactive communications. We did ask Friends via the website if they wished to receive a pdf version of Fighter Log….we only had one reply and that was a yes. So reminders by e mail may not be the complete answer. Hi Grayfly
Would it not be possible for members to pay by standing order? My Sally B and Linc Lanc membership are paid like this so no need for sending reminders and people are less likely to cancel.
Not a criticism, just a suggestion.

Thanks for the feedback, reminders are sent out ,however it appears we have missed some of you in the past. There are a number of improvements in our admin in the planning, so please be patient with us for a while. As numbers grow problems can occur and as a volunteer organisation, resources can occasionally be limited.
The Royal Mail hasn’t helped by charging mail by size, Fighter Log postage costs drastically increased and we are reluctant to increase membership costs to compensate. Hence the need to make sure we remind Friends to rejoin and also gain new Friends.

I must admit i used to be a member but i was never reminded that it had run out:confused: i thought the reason given was admin and postage costs.Maybe i’ll rejoin at a Duxford airdisplay this year.

Hi Grayfly and Warhawk69;
Many thanks for your answers to my questions.
Looks as though I’ll be seeing you all in the enclosure at Legends this year then!! Can’t wait…and glad to be a Friend of the Fighter Collection:)

Dont forget you also get a free flight line walk at legends as well!
I normally rejoin at one of the airshows as it is easyer than using the post and cheque and I think it is at a discounted price(£10).

The Friends enclosure at Legends is for use by the Friends at no extra charge.
You are normally reminded when your membership expires.
If you have a family membership but your membership number doesn’t have an F after it, then this is probably an admin error which can easily be corrected.
