This is taken from the IWM website;
‘The Battle of Britain Memorial Flight is 50 years old this year and launches its anniversary season at Duxford with a day to remember. The BBMF is the RAF’s tribute to the aviators of the Second World War. This will be the first chance to see the iconic Lancaster PA474 and Spitfires P7350 and AB910 in their new colours. You will be able to get up close to these legendary aircraft on the ground and see spectacular aerial displays. The four original fighters of the BBMF are reunited and all seven fighters will fly in formation with the Lancaster, in a sight not seen for many years. As part of the display, a Eurofighter Typhoon will fly in tandem with the oldest airworthy Spitfire. The Spitfire will also perform a moving sunset ceremony to close this amazing day. The RAF Falcons Parachute Display Team will make a very special appearance in the aerial displays and the Central Band of the Royal Air Force will provide rousing musical performances. Come and meet the pilots, aircrew and ground crew of the Flight and learn more about the BBMF.’
Looks to be a good day especially with the eurofighter and spitfire flypast!!!

Does anyone know if the BBMF are flying into DX on the day, or before?
The BBMFs website has the Lancaster, 1 spitfire and 1 Hurricane arriving on the 2nd.

They don’t seem to have worked out ticket prices yet, though I was told this weekend that it would be £19:95. Does anyone know whether they are available yet, just trying to save a phone call to DX.
We are having a visit from the Budapest branch of the family that week, Uncle Georg has 2 requests, a visit to the sailors reading rooms at Southwold and a trip to DX, jammy git doesn’t know what he’s in for, I don’t think he’s ever seen a Spitfire, let alone a Lancaster, I’ll probably have to take the smelling salts with me.
In a sense, it will be interesting to take ‘The Enemy’ around with me, though I think that the Hungarians only sided with the Nazis to get at the Russians, whom they still hate with a real passion.
