FlyPast magazine and an earlier thread here announced that the aeroplane section of the Royal Army Museum in Brussels would be closing in 2007. Has anyone heard when that will happen or is it already closed? I am planning to visit Belgium in early April.
Cheers, Dennis

No worries Dennis. They are still in the planning phases, and still need to raise the needed money.

Thank you very much! I’m looking forward to visiting this collection before the aircraft are moved anywhere.

I visited the museum last month and all was well. The Aviation hall is open 10.00 till 4.00, however the rest of the galleries, army, guns ect closed for lunch 12.00 till 2.00 (?) The whole museum is closed on Mondays.
Regarding a long term closure, I too read the report and contacted the Museum to be told that the report was misleading in so much as the closure will only be to parts of the Aviation Hall as the structure is cleaned and repainted. This will lead to disruption to opening hours and some exhibits will be removed to storage (will they return ?) as another report mentions a more ‘National focus’ to the collection. As for time scale it implied mid to end of this year. Other plans at the Museum are to provide roofs over the two external court yards were the tanks and boats are.
