Grace Spitfire ready for 2007

ML407 is looking great for the 2007 season, with Carolyn putting her through her paces at Duxford on Friday. The new spinner, complete with Rotal badge, gives 407 a different look and a game is developing between Carolyn and Steve over the position of the badge when the prop stops! As always, we need your support to keep her flying, so if you are interested in the Grace Spitfire, please join our supporters club. Details can be found at

It’s a nicely made video! It’s a compilation of footage from the TV series Spitfire Ace. Or am I imagining things?

I think you’re right – certainly looks familiar, anyway.

Yep Daz – after having played it a few times in my past it is indeed Finlandia from start to finish!

Great video and a nice balance with music and engine music!

………err would it have been better with Elgar…….being English???

All those green field makes me want to come home!

Well said that man, with something as obviously British as a Spitfire Sir Edward’s music would have been far more appropriate.

Hi
Great pictures now click on the link for a great film.

Whats the music ?

Great bit of work, that! 🙂

Not sure on the music, but certainly from about 3:30 onwards it sounds VERY much like the music from the end of Die Hard 2!!

In fact, that’s EXACTLY what it is! It’s “Finlandia” by Jean Sibelius, part of which was used towards the end of the movie.

I really must learn how to NOT dribble at the sight of a nicely restored Spitfire in its element. 😀

Simply gorgeous

As a confirmed Cranberry nut, I must say this “Old Girl” looks absolutely gorgeous. But lets face it, RR know how to make a sexy sounding engine, Merlin, Avon not alot of contest both have their appeals, especially as the sight & sound of a Merlin can reduce one to tears over the memory of a RR WW2 Test Pilot. Photos, well they’re just stunning thank you for sharing.

Stunning picture’s of my favourite preserved Spitfire.

Now if only you hadn’t popped your name across the image’s I might have been tempted to change the desktop pic on my laptop. 😀

Ive got to say she looks a lot better now that she has a sky coloured spinner once more.

Why did she go to a black spinner after all those years. Was it historically accurate?

Being a bit anoraky I know but just wondered.

The original spinner was causing vibrations, and the black spinner was used whilst the corrections were made to the problem one.

Is the mirror reflecting the grass, or has the glass gone astray?

She looks the business, as always 🙂

I’ll need to remember to update my membership, too.
