Dak at Aeroventure

I just wondered what is the plans for the former Irish DC3 at Aeroventure? I had hoped to visit the musuem it was at before (Framlingham?) has this closed or did they simply not have the resources to refurbish it?

She was owned by the museum at Framlingham. They decided it wasn’t within their remit and offered it to Aeroventure. I helped organise the move – that must have been nearly three years ago. The current plan is a sympathetic restoration to somewhere near her original status. Whilst she is somewhat delapidated – there is nothing within her than cannot be repaired.

I think they’ve started work on it now

Weren’t the panoramic windows going to be removed and it be restored as a British civilian DC3 in wartime colours – ie uppersurface DE/DG camo and registration writ large and underlined across the top of the wings etc

IIRC it was owned by people who worked at Framlingham, not the Museum itself, we sent them some Dak window perspex for it some time ago.

No sure what the plans are for it at Donkey – they have a lot on their plate!

Its more unusual being a DC-3 proper rather than a C-47
