I noticed today that the Discovery wings channel ends it’s service on Wednesday, Ok so it has not been the best just lately with all the progs on trains, big buildings and top ten this and that, but the Aviation Archive weekend that has been repeated was brilliant.
Hopefully avition type programmes will surface on other channels.
John.

The channel will be offering programs featuring the most exciting new vehicles including cars, trucks, motorbike, planes and trains.
A new motoring channel targeted at adult men…
I think they mean boys with their own incomes…
Didn’t care that Father Christmas was a con, but when I heard that they don’t have steam trains to drive – Waaaaa.

As a Brit living on the other side of the Pond, I can honestly say that The Military Channel “Go behind the Lines” (said in a deep manly American voice) is quite possibly the worst example of TV programming since Fox and Fleetwood did the Brits!

The Aviation Archive Weekends have been superb. I suspect there are several more I haven’t seen.
I hope they keep repeating them ’til I’ve seen them all.

Please correct me if i’m wrong, in America didn’t Disc. wings channel turn into a disc. military channel or something of the like??
Yes.
It shows a lot of the same programs…just with a broader scope.
No great loss, since most of the programs on it were ancient and endlessly reshown.
Today most aviation themed programs (usually WWII or current military-themed) are shown on Discovery or the History Channel (which is part of Discovery).
Eventually, they’ll make their way to the Discovery Military Channel.

Discovery Wings will be axed in favour of a new motoring channel called Discovery Turbo on March 1st 2007.
Shame that it could not be a transportation channel covering all forms of transport, is a bit limiting having a channel for just aircraft or just cars.

Oh I liked watching Disco Wings liked watching flight deck. 🙁 Hope they are just renaming it to Discovery Transport or the programmes move to Discovery channel .
