I have been compiling a bit of a database of details and stories about the various Royal New Zealand Air Force aerobatic display teams that have been around over the years.
I’ve only been at this for a matter of two months or so, off and on, but already I’ve discovered loads more teams than I ever knew about, and had the great pleasure to have contact with many of the RNZAF’s greatest postwar pilots who’ve gladly sent in details from their logbooks and some excellent stories and photos.
There’s a long way to go yet before this little corner of my website is anywhere near complete, but I thought I’d mention it here in case anyone might have any details to offer, or perhaps photos or memories.
Our Air Force had display teams outside of NZ too, such as in Nicosia, Cyprus and Tengah, Singapore. In fact if you have details of any displays by RNZAF aircraft even in the UK or Australia or wherever, I’d like to hear please.
Thanks for looking.

Albert,
I’m very glad you found it of interest. Do you happen to have any team or date/venue info that is not yet on the webpage?
Do you have any photos you could offer to the project? I’d particularly like to find a photo of the Yellow Hammers logo, as this team lasted just part of one season, it’s a rare thing indeed.
Cheers
Dave

David,
As an aerobatic teams historian, the only Kiwi teams I know about are these:
“The Red Checkers” with Harvards then Airtrainers,”The Yellow Hammers” with Vampires and “Kiwi Red” with A-4 Skyhawks. I have photos and information on these but was very interested to see those others listed on your site.
Many thanks
