According the the MSN groups site for Wisley,
http://groups.msn.com/WisleyAirfield/
there are some postings in the message centre to say Wisley has been sold.
It seems all to often that we hear of another airfield being sold off.

Wisley Horse Manure
When the Trans-Atlantic Air Race terminated at Wisley the RAF VC10 lobbed in. The guy with the “ticket” ran down the steps into a waiting chopper to take him to St Pancras (the Customs man was waiting for him in the chopper!!). Meanwhile all the other persons on the VC10 were slowly filing down the steps. A couple of Gp Captains (as I remember it), several Wg Cdrs, and more Squabbling-Bleeders and Flit Loots than you could shake a stick at Tom Cats in a fish market on a Sunday. They had all been described on the FLTEMPLANE as “crew”.
The Lord Trubshaw was stood at the back of the mob in the tower at Wisley, and as all this vast throng of “crew” came down the steps he uttered what I thought was a brilliant comment “S**t”, he said, “I didn’t think we’d made them that difficult to fly!!!”. The tower fell about.

Wisley was slated to become the site of a waste incinerator at one point – not sure how “true” that rumour was.

Wisley Airfield Update
Afternoon All, I was having a cup of tea last night by the old entrance at Elm Corner off of the A3 when I noticed some work had been carried out very recently. Most of the logs blocking the entrance have been removed. Getting my torch out I noticed a planning notice attached to the old gate.
I can’t recall the name of the company and it’s so new it isnt on the Surrey CC website yet.
The application is to Surrey rather than Guildford council. It is for permission to use part of the old site for up to 5 years. A waste company wish to import horse manure and process it there for sale elsewhere.
Strangest use I’ve heard of for the old place yet! Still, as the developers paid £22M for the site last year I suppose they have to get their money back anyway they can.
I normally stop off there atleast once every couple of weeks. Any other things of interest and I’ll post them here.

Wisley, for many years, has been owned by developers so this was just a change of developer, a waste of an airfield all the same though!..
