T-6Gs at La Ferte Alais

I was just snooping around airliners.net, and found this photo of the group of T-6s in the woods at La Ferte. Are there still any of them around, and in what shape are they today?

On a related issue, when is the show there this year? Tried searching their website, but it only mentioned last year!

Hi Dutchie,

This one has never been identified so far; except it being one of those recovered from Tunisia by Didier Chable. It was meant to be displayed in front of a restaurant some place in France.

It was (and still is ?) just an empty shell.

Hi Flying Higher (53-4592, G-BTKI, N5925, N12V),

Please send me a PM; I do have a copy of the French Individual Aircraft Record Card, and a couple of photo’s when she was being rebuild in the UK.

Very Nice Flying Higher and welcome to the forum….. her sister ship (ours) has a way to go before catching up with yours!

See if you can track her down here:
http://www.frenchwings.net/algeria/cpg148/thumbnails.php?album=25

Also it would be worth getting hold of a copy of these two books – ‘T-6 sur L’afn’ and ‘T-6 en Algerie’

La Ferte Alais T-6G, 53-4592, G-BTKI, N12V

My twin brother now owns this aircraft, which is based in Virginia (USA). I expect to fly it this summer. I have photos of it in La Ferte Alais, but we would really like to have more history on it after it left there. Was it restored or partially restored when Philip Warner owned it? Any information or photos would be appreciated.

Also, is there any history available on its service with the French?

I’m attaching two photos, “before and after”. The second one shows it alongside the 450 Stearman I’ll be flying again – – if it ever warms up in Ohio! The Stearman belongs to my sons.

Thank you very much!

Good enough for me. Very nice scheme. I noticed F-AZRB was for sale on the internet recently. Another T-6 to leave France perhaps…? And my lottery numbers didn’t come through this weekend either…

By the way, who owns Harvard 4 F-AZAT these days? I was told that Doc. Blondel passed away.

F-AZAS was in La Ferte Alais few years ago with same owner than the F-AZRB. I’m not sure but I don’t think it was for a movie. I know F-AZAS has been used as a Zero in the movie ‘Empire of the Sun’ with another AJBS T6 and this color sheme has been used after the movie

I will be in La Ferté Alais this evenning, may be I found other information

Thanks to everyone for the answers. Would anyone have a clue if there is anything for a non-aircraft interested person (my girlfriend  ) to do at the venue (and not just carnivals) or in the vicinity of La Ferte? In trying to keep a relationship friendly enviroment I feel it is not advisable for me to travel solo to France in the middle of summer… :diablo: Boiled rabbits does spring to mind. 😮

I note Franck66 photo of T-6 F-AZRB in its fighter type paint job. Was that for a movie, or something? I have seen another French T-6G (now in Spain, see below) in the same colors with the #1 on the cowl. Was there ever a third with #2? Nice colors by the way!

I’ve got a list of T-6s that were in the forest in 1975. I’ll try and find it.

Hi,
In 1992 several T-6 were still there among other wrecks but in very sorry state , I took some pictures but unfortunately these are slides and I don’t have specific scanner for it yet.
Does someone have the list of the serial numbers of all the T-6 that were at La Ferté in the 70’s ?

Cheers,

Olivier
