Does anyone know if there are any Viscount cockpit restorations underway in the UK?
In addition the Viscount RAE cockpit at Brooklands, would anyone know if that has a complete interior or is gutted? Many Thanks.

Thanks for the info GASYD on the current status of the Viscount cockpit at Brooklands, would you know if they intend on opening this up to the public once it is restored?
On another note do you have any contact details of the guys who are working on the Vickers Viking, I believe they are BA engineers?
Many Thanks

Olympus,
Regarding G-BAPF cn 338 at Moreton-in-Marsh, the most recent photo I’ve seen is this one taken in April 2006:

It is very tempting Peter, but our coffers have already taken a pounding from another Viscount.
The cockpit section would be ideal as a display exhbit for us to fit out and take to shows to further our cause with C/n 35 Victoria Lynne.
However If anybody fancies treating us to an early christmas present please feel free to PM us. 😀

Sad looking to see her dumped in the yard
Ok she looks so sad surely someone could save it and give it a home??

If anyone is interested let me know, I can source most of the cockpit interior for the Viscount, incl seats, panels, throttles etc. Just need the shell of a cockpit to fit them into, but with 2 young kids and a demanding full time job I havent got the time to get involved too much, next best thing is to go into partnership with someone. Mind you the cost of transporting this cockpit pit out of Stock in Essex to where ever will be a crippler in cost!
I’d be interested, but my missus already huffy from the last visit I made to you and came back with the Viscount books!!! says I need to stop!:D

No sign of the Andover this morning, but the Viscount is still there. The yard was locked so i could not get anymore details on it, just a picture through a whole in the fence 😀

On my last visit to Stock there was a big hole in the scrap where the Andover had been.
I was told she had been shipped off to South Africa but I did not bother to ask for any more detail.

If i remember rightly it had a VIP fit inside the Andover 😀

That Andover would make a good attraction a la G-CONV thats gone to serve as accomodation.

I don’t think moving the cockpit out of the yard would be that expensive. I should imagine a decent 7.5 tonne flatbed lorry could manage it quite easily or indeed a substancial trailer and 4×4 to tow it. It cannot weigh very much being internally stripped and I am sure the yard owners have lifting equipment on site.

Spot on Spey. My 1st job as an Avionics Apprentice with BAF in 1980 was to remove all its instruments when it arrived from BA at Cardiff. All the instruments were then replaced with life sized photographs of the entire panels, to keep the cockpit looking “real” when used as a Cabin Trainer.
Stock were asking £500 for it last time i herd, i was almost tempted!

That looks like G-AOHL which was in basic BA colours and very faded titles of BAF Cabin Service Trainer.

Is it this one?

Viscount at Stock
The nose section is still in the yard as the deal fell through. There is no plan to scrap it.

Think this may be of interest to you.
DAS Viscount nose section has gone on loan to Bournemouth. And looks rather nice as well in her Parcel Farce colours.
Thanks for posting that link Olympus, I wasn’t aware of this website which looks pretty good.

Hi Fly.Buy,
When I was at Stock last year Steve had said that it had sold but the buyer had not yet closed the deal with the cash.
I got the impression that quite a time had passed.

Many thanks for this chaps, anyone know what happened to the cockpit which was at Hannningfields metals (Stock, Essex) last year and advertised on ebay? Was it sold or eventually scrapped?

The cokpit section of a Viscount 804, G-CSZB, is displayed at East Midlands Aeropark. I’m not sure what the interior is like.
