I’m sure someone looked at getting a Starfighter flown into Brunty at some point but the CAA were unhappy with the idea.

Yes it was us.

If you are interested, I know a man here in the Netherlands who has got about a squadron of them. You might be able to take one off his hands.

Thanks for the offer but seriously we do have enough on our plate 🙂

Oh boy yes. The video brought back memories of the early 1970s and the sound of Canadian and German 104s howling into winters’ nights on long instrument approaches into RAF bases around the UK.

Anyone who heard them will know exactly what I mean!

They definately had a distinctive Yowl, especially when spooling up for take off.
I loved the 4 ship displays of the ’70s, in the days when 1 would split off, 3 would do a slow flypast, and the 4th would scream down the crowdline and make everyone jump!

We have been working on it yes, but its a long hard road.

Mind you I think we have enough trouble with our two old ladies and a Q shed 😮

Another group needs to be formed around it to finance and run it if it happens:)

I think that most people who appreciate the Lightning also have a soft spot for the widow-maker.
I think it is that the Starfighter shares the concept of being nothing more than a closely-cowled engine(s) with the bare minimum of aerodynamic appendage and accomodation to be functional.
