There is a story attached to this picture of the busted dam, it was given to me by a soldier who took it off a German prisoner he captured in Normandy on d day+ 5, I sent it to either Fly Past or Air International, I forget which, anyway they kindly published it so it is possible some of you have seen it before, it appears to have been taken the morning after the raid judjing by the debris in the water.

Nice piece. Would have been wrong to suggest getting rid of 617 in this of all years. Shame the DT has a picture of Gibson when he was with 106 Squadron!

How weird is that i am sitting here watching ‘The Dambusters’ ?
It is a good pic you can see better the width of the breach, i would not have liked to have been near that when it went.
