Hello – never posted before so a good response encouraged please !
I have an inspection panel from a German aircraft (the outer locks are marked ZU and AUF) It is painted grey/white on the outside and has serial numbers prefixed 540 with 4 digits following. It has inspection stamps
“OK 25” in very small circles. It apparantly crashed 15 Km from Leningrad during WW2. It is 36cm by 27cm and is mainly aluminium. The locks click in to open the panel and click out when locked. They are operated by a straight head screwdriver. It seems too large to be from a fighter, so maybe a bomber ?
Can anyone help please. I can send better pics but have attached a small mix of pics.
All help appreciated – AND MERRY XMAS!

Sounds like it’s Junkers then, probably an 88.
Have a look at the Norwegian Ju88 restoration site of the one that was raised a year or 2 ago. Loads of pics there, no link at hand sorry:)
Have cleaned away some more silt. The locks have a brass casting. There are the following numbers on these castings- read a previous thread about numbers on castings and found
1R 3115
and
Ju N 16410
Also saw some Ju 88 wreckage photos on ebay and there was an item identical to the triangular swivel mount amongst them.
Any Junkers expert who can put this to bed for me?

GERMAN AIRCRAFT PANEL FROM RUSSIA
HERES A BETTER PICTURE OF THE PANELS REVERSE SIDE – IT DIDN’T COME OUT OF A LAKE (BUT SOME OF HIs OTHER STUFF HAS..!) HE SAYS (roughly translated)
“This plane to fall close to the city of Pavlovsk. It approximately 15 Km. from Leningrad. After impact on the ground the planes scatter on many peices radius of about 100 metres. After war large parts have been collected to melt all. Now on this place only possible to find small peices. Old people to tell when they collected this scrap metal. This peice found this autumn”
Would live to know what its off – Anyone got a HE 111 they can lend me to look over !!! There is atrace of a black line on the painted side – may have been the edge of a number or insignia – and as such did it come off the side of the aircraft as opposed to the underside?

Not sure?
Hi – if the skin bears a 111 prefix then it is most likely from a He111.
Hope that helps.
It doesn’t look He 111 to me and the STENCILLED number smacks heavily of a Werke Nummer. If it was a cast item marked R8-111 then, yes, a He 111 for sure. But I dont think this is. Andy

Thanks for the quick reply !
It appears to have part of a hinge mechanism at one end, and a swivel type mounting for (something?) next to the hinge. It as a slightly convex section (rather than being entirely flat . It is in remarkable condition, considering its age. The aluminim aircraft skin has the number 111241 stencilled in ink in one place. The guy I bought it from normally sells me German stick grenades (inert!) and other military items that he fishes up from a lake near an old German camp in Russia with A SUPERMAGNET !
Everything else I ave bought from him has been correct and genuine, so I have a lot of confidence in this being WW2 and from a crashed German
aircraft BUT MORE HELP NEEDED!Thanks

Werke Nummer?
The stencilled six digit number could be significant as it may be an aircraft number (Werke Nummer) which could be helpful. Maybe somebody can come up with some block numbers that would help? Maybe Hs 129 is a possibility, too? If this panel is in the lake could the aeroplane be there, too?? Or has it just been thrown there as a bit of rubbish? Andy

Fw 190?
At first glance my instinct says Fw 190 as the internal structure looks familiar. Auf and Zu are the marks indicating open or closed against the locking screws. I am sure someone will confirm or disprove my hunch!! Andy
