Hello All
The ‘Butcher Bird’ has arrived; albeit it is a new one from Flugwerks. As I am sure everyone knows it is for Tom Blair, the very wealthy yank who owns the Buchon (also in the pics). Rumour has it that it may obtain a 21 day permit to test before going off to the US. If it stays in the UK then it has to apply to the CAA as a new aircraft design and a whole mountain of paper work to get a display permit.
Hopefully it may stay for a little longer and we may see it in action! I hope so as it is 100hp up on power, even without the water methanol system, and a lot lighter as no old radio kit or guns.
Merry Xmas!

link
I don’t have any primary sources (i.e. period photographs) to hand as I’m still unpacking all my books after moving, but here is a link to an article on a model in the scheme that it represents (Werner Schroer’s ‘Red 1’ of 8./JG27) which gives some more details.
Hi
Thanks for the reply and link, I am in a similar situation, We just recently moved ( to Vancouver ), and all my books/notes are still packed.
cheers

As I said I am no expert on the ‘paperwork’ side. Permit, registration, authority to fly, display whatever…………..I was referring to whatever permission is required for it to be registered and flying & displaying here in the UK.
As a previous member has pointed out I am sure the relevant engineers and company have it all worked out. It may be here for assembly and checks then off to the US on the next ship.
All this is speculation to which we can only guess. I will and I am sure many others will take this opportunity to sit back and enjoy it in its prsent status! Well at least for the next several weeks.
Merry Xmas. 😉
Well said. The armchair experts can pontificate all day about paperwork etc. Just enjoy it and wait and see.

FW – I have never heard of a display permit for an aircraft . There is a display authorisation (DA) for the pilot flying it .

As I see it, if it’s got a foreign permit to fly, then it can (normally) fly in the UK for a period of (normally) 28 days. If the intention is to register it in the UK and apply for a UK P to F, then I believe that is increased to 3 months.
If it’s arrived without anything in the way of paperwork, why should the UK CAA let it fly at all, let alone for test purposes? So lets not speculate and why not wait and see, as I’m sure the maintenence company who got it out of the box & put it together will have it all worked out.:D

red rudder
Hi
interesting the red rudder, presumably the a/c has different markings on each side ?
Is the red rudder a genuine colur scheme / marking ?
Looking forward to seeing it this side of the pond.
cheers

As I said it was ‘rumour’; perhaps you or other members can enlighten us all on the CAA rules, applications & guidelines!

Rumour has it that it may obtain a 21 day permit to test
Permit to test for what? If there is no application how does ‘testing’ come in to the equation?

That does look REALLY nice, i wonder if they would do an axis pair with the buchon?
