As tomorrow (Sunday) is predicted to be wet and windy and as today turned out rather nice, if a little cool, I had a wander down to Duxford. If you are a ‘Friend of Duxford’, there is an extra 5% discount in the restaurants and shop during December as a Christmas present from the management. The Victor is under cover in AirSpace and I presume so is the Comet but couldn’t see behind a blue curtain that was dividing the restoration area. A replica Pilcher Glider is now hung above the stairs to the upper gallery in AirSpace.

The Victor, Comet and Varsity were parked in the overflow car park last week, I think it was, and the Varsity is now parked in the spot the Comet used to be in.
Is the Victor in the paint shop then?
It’s not in the paint shop, which is in Hanger 4, but in the restoration area at the front of the AirSpace hanger. The idea of the restoration area is, I think, that you can watch an airframe being stripped down over time, the parts then go to the paint shop, and then watch it being put back together then.

The Comet is in AirSpace, the restoration area is bigger than you think, and i did enjoy my sausage, beans and chips at lunchtime.

I have not seen the whole of the air space hangar yet as IWM seem to dragging their feet on the ‘friends of duxford’ tour we were supposed to be getting of the whole building, but since it does not ‘officially’ open until next summer maybe that is me jumping the gun.
When i was at DUX for rememberance day, i was intrigued to see the engine covers been taken off the comet and it been ‘fiddled’ with, see below pic.

Nice Pics, we drove past on our way to Wood Green Animal Shelter at Heydon, we got a lovely view of the RAF Liveried Dragon Rapide/Dominie taking off.
Even the kids expressed an interest in seeing the new hangar!

Very nice pics there, i think it would just be the victor in the restoration section of ‘airspace’ as the area is no way big enough for both a victor and a comet.
Good news on the 5% extra for the friends as the food is one of the high points now at Duxford instead of stopping at that little chef near Fowlmere yuck.

Wish they’d get that Shack under cover before it falls apart.
The old grey lady needs a bit of TLC.

No, Ollie, I just decided to carry on ignoring your posts.
The engine’s infront of the Bristol Fighter, it’s been there for some considerable time. If you’d looked more carefully you’d have noticed that by looking into the front or the side of the cowling you could see out the other side without an engine obstructing your view. Apparently this theory works with peoples’ ears as well.
I know there was an engine in front ot it. Thank you for the link.

Hopefully they will get some of the other aircraft in from the cold, there has been talk of moving the shackleton but she has been outside for so long she is probably rooted to the spot.
