by coincidence..
I’d like to just say thanks for the clarification of the markings…. by sheer coincidence I spotted the same markings on a camouflaged dHC Beaver in a book this morning and had been wondering whose it was.
thanks again

Just for Les B
Thought you needed cheering up after slipping a Canberra shot in with Thunderbirds.

This is a South Arabian Federation, then South Yemen Air Force …….
The most embarrasing thing about this was that I lived in Aden for two years!!!! 😮 Mind you I was only three/four at the time. Interesting picture non the less.

Well done Glanini, it is indeed a C-47 of the short lived South Arabian Federation (as it was called after Aden was given independence and before it was overthrown internally to become South Yemen). It was photographed at Hurn shortly before delivery in Sep 67.

The flag on the tail reminds me of Tanzania. However, the Tanzanian flag has diagonal bars whereas the flag on the tail has horizontal bars. The colours match though.

Well it is not the comores looks nothing like theirs.
And i cannot find it on the list of world air forces roundels so it is either a ‘pretend’ as Cking says or it is a oddity, but going by the fuel boweser in the pic if it is a British field the pic is pretty old 1960’s or 70s i would say.

It’s not a “Pretend” air force for a film is it? ‘Cos the background looks very British to me.
