Who can tell me where I can look at archive copies of Flight Magazine from 1909 to 1911? Also any other publications from that era?
Thanks

AIUI with the split of Aeroplane(?) to IPC and Flight to Reed, the photo archive also got split so unfortunately the collection is not as good as it could be.
Not read Aeroplane recently, but you wouldn’t want to turn it into a Flight. The style is very business-business orientated.

RAFM Hendon have copies as well early copies of The Aeroplane.

Wouldn’t it be wonderful if “Aeroplane” (as distinct from Aeroplane Monthly) could be given the “Flight” treatment as well.
Surely this is would be indeed be worth seeking Lottery sponsorship for?

Blue Robin is quite correct re the photo archives.
I work for the company at their office in Rugby. A couple of the guys I work with are plodding away putting the archives on the database as we speak. Ok maybe not now as its past work hours but you know what I mean. Well worth keeping a regular eye on as some fantastic pictures are being uncovered and put online.

If I recall the publisher boss was trying to get all the old copies scanned and made available (I vaguely recall for free) online. Certainly they are plodding along with the photo archive

British Library in London I would think.
If you enquire at your local library I’m sure you can get to see them on the inter-library loans service – maybe only one volume (12months) at a time though.
If you were prepared to travel somewhere that has done aeronautical education for a long time (eg Cranfield University) probably have copies in their library and Shuttleworth probably have them in theirs.
