Spitfire sur la plage

Anyone recognise this shot of a crashed Spitfire on the beach in France or Belgium which has been in my collection for ages, and dates presumably from around the Dunkirk era? It is “sans moteur” and the only visible clue as to identity is what appears to be a code letter “W”. Any ideas? Andy Saunders

The guy in the swimsuit looked excited to see it!!!

Strangely, that doesn’t happen to me whenever I clap eyes on a Spit! 😀

The guy sat on the canopy appears to be a German Fighter pilot. Probably the guy who shot it down!
