Ok, this is how it’s read’s
Hi, My Grandfather apparently worked for Sir Alan Cobham’s Flying Circus and possibly Sir Alan’s Family knew his parent’s(William and Sarah Field), and they were killed in an aircrash in Europe ???.
His name was Claude Maxilimillion Field(Known as Charlie).
He stopped working for the Circus by 1935 as he married my grandmother.

Joanne Cheng.
I am not sure what’s she is really after, but If anyone out there has any idea!

We had Yank’s doing the early air to air refuel thing in the USA, but yes I think I remember reading that Sir Alan Cobham did have a lot to do with the U.K. early trial’s.
Was a busy dude ole Sir Alan, I still have not read his book about comming to Oz and back 🙁 , I think Geebee(Gary) said he might send me an old copy, been so Crook and knackered I had forgotten all about it 😮 .
He’s over with the private school boy’s mob on Plane talk now day’s(hope he’s carefull ya know what they can be like hey), and I thought brylcream was for ya hair you Mary’s! or is that Elton’s from Eton 😀 :p 😀 .

Hi Phil,interesting sideline,I work for National Jet Systems here in Darwin.The funny thing is National Jet is owned by a company registered in the U.K.called Cobham,apparently started by Sir Alan Cobham and specialising in inflight refueling and special mission equipment like airborne coastal surveillance,small world,eh!!!Cheers,Pete

She may get luck, who’s to know :confused: .
I am still yet to find out what Charlie did in the Circus :confused: .
I’ll pass on any interesting stuff if I get any at all.
Now that’s one RIPPER Circus I would have runaway to join 😀 .
Anyone still alive :rolleyes: on here ever get to actually see this Circus 😮 , In person, as maybe a snot nosed liitle rugrat????? :p

Sorry can’t help Stormbird other than to suggest the lady reads Cobham’s memoirs “A Time To Fly” (Shepheard-Walwyn, 1978) although she has probably done that. Regrettably the book has no index to look up people mentioned.
Just one other point, Cobham’s christian name is spelt Alan – I only mention this out in case it affects any google-type searches.
