Save a Brewer

Can anyone come up with suggestions for a good home for a rare Yak-28 ‘Brewer’? (A Soviet 1960’s era light attack bomber). It’s in a private collection near Budapest , Hungary, where the owner had intended to set up a museum. His plans were not liked by the local authorities, unfortunately, and he’s had to scrap most of his large collection of aircraft, mostly MiGs of various kinds, until only a handful are left.

Now he has decided to move away altogether, and unless he can find a home very soon for his few remaining airframes, they’ll all be scrapped.

This is one of only three Yak28’s in Europe outside of Russia & the Ukraine , and needless to say it would be a great shame if it were destroyed. It’s in need of some work to bring up to display standard, but is nearly all there.

Any ideas, please?

How do you solve a problem like Brewer…

Get a group of like minded people a 7.5 ton Hi Ab and go and get it!
I have a museum in the UK who might take it on as a restoration project!

Thanks for posting the pictures.

The Aerosan was still there in September ( I wondered what it was called!), and the Aeropark venture is most definitely dead, I’m afraid.

Yes, that’s the one. It actually looked better when I saw it last month, probably because the grass wasn’t so long!

So – the whole Aeropark venture is in decline ??

That is very sad.

I remember going to the ‘boneyard’ when it was near Ferihegy airport in Budapest.

Then a couple of years later, it had moved to its new location a bit further away.

We were told that the owner had plans to create an ‘Aeropark’/adventure playground – what I photographed were just the airframes in the same state after their move from Ferihegy.

Last year (IIRC) there was a post asking about the Tupolev Aerosan that was being restored- (5th & 6th photos :- http://www.makettinfo.hu/fotok/roncsrancs_takacs/index.htm)

I had photographed the same two machines a few years earlier (on the first visit to Hungary) at Budaors.

Do you know what has happened to the Aerosans??

…..and is the Aeropark now ‘dead’ ??

Cheers

There are also some photos of the ‘Aeropark’ here….. http://www.makettinfo.hu/fotok/roncsrancs_takacs/index.htm

I’m not sure about its current status – not good by the sound of it!
