This psychological horror is an interesting curio about a wounded RAF pilot whose recuperation at a Welsh nursing home is one long, dark night of the soul. It’s 1943 and Toby Jugg (a remarkable performance from Robert Pattinson) is tormented by flashbacks to his bombing raids. His sinister doctor, Hal (Julian Sands), discovers that guilt is at the heart of the airman’s terror, but does Toby’s louche aunt, Julia (Rachael Stirling), embody the real reason for his remorse? It’s slow and sombre, but reliably chilly. Arachnophobes may as well have an early night.
