Sally -B B17 Sunday Duxford airshow

Hello
This sally-B ok?
After the show on sunday it smoked abit when it parked up.
This is normal ?
Seemed to lose some oil .
The engine with the cheques art work.
Was it me or did she fly abit away from the crowd more any other shows at Duxford.

P.S Donot like the new paint .If with hanger space at duxford freed up because of airspace moves she going inside over winter .
She should have done back to plain metal.

So buy my ’84 Camaro

sorry, 838, went out and bought a Dodge Caliber – I can’t get my Whippet and her travel cage in the back of a Camaro or Saleen Mustang.

I remember her looking like a big Corgi just after the last respray at DX with the outer wings removed – that was in the summer before she got stuck in the Channel isles for the winter!!- that soon weathered the paint.

This is great news that she has had a total respray as it will keep her protected for a few years! – looks like a great job too!

Anybody see if they painted inside too?

If radial engines don’t leak oil then it means they’ve run out of the stuff. Bit like old British Motorbikes. Also, if a round engine is throttled back to idle for too long, the scavenge pumps cannot return oil to the tank efficiently which can cause smoke. Or, of course, it could mean the engine is kn***ered.

Like 91 said the deal on the repaint was far far too good to pass on,

The glossy finish will help with the maintanance of the aircraft and its far far easyer to keep clean, what with th UK climate a bare metal aircraft stored out doors wouls nor fair too well the cost if keeoing it clean would drasticaly curtail the flying side.

The repaint offered was a great deal, that’s why they took advantage of it ……. natural metal looks good but is a ‘dog’ to keep clean and offers much less protection.
