Hurricane flypast Blyton this Saturday

For those of you who may remember, there was flypast 2 years ago,by the BBMF Lancaster,at my motor clubs 2 day swaree.

Well, the time has come again for another appearance by the flight, and unfortunately, the Spitfire requested, has today been replaced by one of the Hurricanes the flight have in their posession.

It will also be flown by non other than Sqdn Ldr Clive Rowley MBE,the recently retired Operatons Commander at the BBMF.I received the news today, from Flt Lt Jack Hawkins, the man who oversees these things at Coningsby.

For those who are interested, the flypast will take place at 13.00 hours, over Blyton, and the aircraft will be approaching from Gainsborough, and if you also want to see 2 days of autograss racing, then racing commences at Blyton on both Saturday and Sunday,at about 09.00 hours.

Entry is about £8 per adult, per day,for about 8 hours of racing, and as far as I can remember, kids under 16 are free.

For those who would like to attend, and would like more details, then they can be found here:

how much do they charge you for the flypast ?

According to the other historic aviation magasine this month to book the 3, so a Lancaster Spit and Hurricane is £1,898 + Vat.

That’s one thing I have always wondered but been too afraid to ask…!!!

I always thought the flight serviced all their airframes over the winter with no displays planned.
