Royal Navy Historic Flight website update 14 Sept 06

News update just posted on the RNHF website. Don’t forget that his weekend sees the Sea Fury’s last scheduled display of 2006 at the Shoreham Airshow where she will feature on both days (though not landing).

If you can’t make it there then tickets are still available for the Fly Navy Heritage Trust Charity Display on Saturday 23 September at RNAS Yeovilton. For more details click on the advert on the Home page.

The Charity Flying Day was superb. I would especially like to thank Lee for initially giving a heads-up to forum members concerning the date and for helping sort out a communications problem. I was determined not to miss this year’s (having missed last year’s due to my attending a “Shaddows” concert on the same day – just too far apart to do both).

A shame that the high winds elsewhere socked-in a few aircraft scheduled to attend, but I was delighted to be able to sample a flight in the Broussard. A bonus was meeting T6flyer and using his handy beer crate – far superior to airline steps!

The line-up of pairs of Sea Hawks, Sea Furies and Seafires was worth the trip in its own right – it was thoughtfully presented and the whole event was an enriching day. Met some very interesting folk – where else could you have a chat with an ex commanding officer of the Ark Royal, a Seafire display pilot and many others whose aviation and life experiences would fill several books!

Roll on next year – here’s hoping for another fundraising event.
Thanks to all who made it happen.

Thanks guys. Just posted some photos from yesterday’s scorching day at VL in the Photographic Section.

Ummm, I noticed (including a rather fetching photo of myself taking out the empties!).

No, seriously I had a superb day out and would like to thank everyone for their assistance and help throughout the day, from the gentleman that assisted with our flight order, Jeremy ? who obtained some oil for us from historics, Doc Holliday and John Beattie for eveything else and to all the helpers too. The best service I have ever witnessed. Thank you.

In total the Broussard flew 44 very happy and contented passengers. Here’s to next year!

Best wishes to all,

Martin

Good to meet other forumites including Consul and Mr Howard. Seems the beer crate photo (Newcastle Brown) I’ve been told, is going in our local flying club newsletter as a caption competition. People can be so cruel at times, can’t they ChampMagic?:)

Well if you see someone walking round with flourescent waistcoat and camera in hand, it will probably be me – say hi!

Hope you have a good day.

Well, if you see a baldy bloke in a green flying suit going the other way, then it could be me!

Please note that online sales of the tickets have now ended. For those who still wish to attend, though, a limited number of tickets will be available at the gate tomorrow (Saturday) morning.
