Adrian – await developments on the Lincoln!

Brief and enigmatic – but optimistic too. Waiting with bated breath…

T.J. I loved that programme. I liked the one Hawke was flying… So rough and ready but they made it. I can never hear Albatross with out thinking of the B-25’s swinging across the screen.

I visited the guy who sold the B-25 “Doolittle Raider” N86427 to Hawke in 1978. He was astounded when I told him the plane had been flown across to Europe. He didn’t see it fit to go around the circuit!

Laden Maiden, aka 44-30925, in better days with the CAF (John Stokes, really) at Airsho ’76 at Harlingen. It carried the same name in Catch-22 when operated by Tallmantz Aviation out of Orange County Airport, California.

Wonderful photo. Thanks for sharing. You wouldn’t by any chance have one of N9455Z as “Tokyo Express”?

Does anyone know whats happening to the Lanc parts at sandtoft? The lanc centre section minus spars would really help repair one of the canadian lancs here.

Laiden Maiden was her Mitchells do fly in IMC colours.
Gorgeous George-Ann was the film colours.
Both are visible on the website photo of the nose…

And this was probarbly the best of the lot when they arrived in the UK back in 1978. Too bad that none of them are in flying condition anymore! Ever since I first saw “Mitchells do fly in IMC” this was my favourite B-25. Always hoped that it would be restored to flying some day, but alas… Just have to be happy it didn’t end up as pots and pans I guess…!

Texan – She was ‘Laiden Maiden’ before that! I will dig out my photographs of her taken in 1990 at Coventry .

Well, good luck with her chaps! Lay off the Kwak until you’ve finished!

To digress somewhat, anyone know what IS (as opposed to be should) happening to the ex-Sandtoft Lincoln?

I wish them the best of luck with this project. surveyed this airframe a couple of years back and it was frightening the amount of work and money required to get it back to even a static exhibit standard

exfoliating corrosion in many areas

more cost effective to buy a project in the states rather than re-spar this one

good luck guys
