I’ve never seen such an amount of aviation topics in one news bulletin!!
Firstly, in comparison to the BBC bulletin last night, a more pessimistic attitude to the Duxford service station argument, complete with film of Concorde landing for the last time, they said it was the last big a/c to land there before the M11 curtailed such events, obviously unaware of the B-29 and B-52. Then we had coverage of Black 6 crashing and the sad sight of the L-29 sitting on the M11, all doom and gloom, at least we weren’t subjected to the P-38 and Firefly crashes.
Then we had a feature about an event at Bassingbourne today which showed various a/c landing including a red Chippy, the pilot, who’s name I’ve typically forgotten, explained how the a/c was nearly sold to the States.
There was then a feature about the ‘Belle of the East’, a B-24 that crashed at Belton, near Yarmouth and has had a road named after it today, I gathered that all the aircrew were rescued by local people.
Tonight at 18:00 we are going to be treated to an anniversary event at Mildenhall and the Anglia crew are going up in a KC-135.
Just thought you might tear yourselves away from the Bader thread and watch it tonight.

You mean you have more than two channels in the U.K. now?
Remember Hancock’s channel changing technique – “One kick BBC, nine kicks ITV.”

Yup. The end comes remembering which was which 🙁 .
Turned out to be Ch3 for the Mildenhall tanker story.

Only one of them has the regional news in the 6 to 6.30 slot, the other runs 6.30 to 7.
