I have been thinking since last weekend the forum whether or not to write this on, But have decided to do so.
On Sunday 20th August i took my wife to Eastbourne for the Airbourne Airshow, She is not a great lover of Airshows and does not really understand my love of them, So naturally she was a little fed up with the day to say the least, Hardly really enjoying herself to be honest, When the show ended i told her i would like to stay until 8pm and see if it is possible for John Romain to display the MKXVIII,we went looking for food and didnt really find anything we really fancied so we went back to the Seafront by this time its nearly 8pm we found a Restaurant Bar that was selling its food cheap as it was near the end of the Day.
At exactly 8pm coming in from over the sea was the Spitfire pulling up into a loop, I looked over to my wife to hear her saying “Go on Loop it” and a “Yeah” when he did, John Romain went on to display a lovely smooth and elegant display in the darkening cloudy sky with both my wife and i and some others who had decided to wait watching almost spellbound. After John had finished my Wife looked over at me and said “Ok then i understand why you love Spitfire’s so much” I thought nice one John.
After a Harrier did a couple of FlyBy’s and Bowed it looked like Lena was very very nearly sold on Airshows for a bit and maybe she won’t mind coming along to a show or two instead of being a Airshow widow.
So thanks for that John.
P.S Thursdays Duo with the MKXIV was a great sight too, The sound on the Pier when a Pair of Griffons fly over was magical Who was Flying the 14 that day?
