greetings,
Does anyone have the Part number for the aircraft Clock (chronoghraph) which were fitted to Canberra? When fitted it resided on the bottom left hand corner of the main instrument panel.
Any help with this or a lead to sourceing one would be greatfully recieved.
Many thanks in advance for looking
Regards
Cliff

Whatever you buy, don’t forget to secure it in the panel as well as possible!
In the RAAF, we lost so many aircraft clocks that us ‘Instrument Bashers’ eventually had to secure them with ‘shear-off head’ screws.
I did this job on our 2 Squadron Canberras – and those screws were a right b’d to get out when we had to remove the clocks for servicing!

Towards the latter days of it’s operational life, it could be said that not one entire Canberra was the same full stop! We operated a mere 7 aircraft on 39Sqn during my time (5 PR9’s and 2 T4’s) and each had it’s own particular quirks due to the age and therefore different “owners” (RAF, FRADU, AHQ etc)and Mod states of the aircraft throughout their careers (plus local Mods occasionally had to be carried out due to lack of available spares, sometimes involving donor airframes preserved in museums – Cosfords XH171 being one such “christmas tree”)
And as for TT.18’s, the FRADU examples had their very own special chapter in the AP101B to account for Navy changes – dare say the T22’s were subject to the same.
Just realised, not in any way related tp the original question – apologies! I get excitable when I see the word Canberra 😀

Hi Chris there seems to be a few little differences between the two………its a shame the panel from WK124 is in poor condition and the one from the T.22 is in perfect condition ,this is what swayed us to use that panel for her;)
All the best Matt
Yes I agree matt, it was such a shame the panel from WK124 was fire/smoke/water damaged,
I wouldnt be too dis-heartened, as I was told that canberras were renown for having there own “INDIVIDUAL” panel, and many were different from others, one of the main reasons the serial no was painted on the back of the panel was to insure no Mix ups when servicing time came along, as ive heard of many a Erk having to “Fettle” the panel to get instruments to fit, and even to fit the panel itself
was just one of the things I was told, No “one” Canberra Panel was the same ,
Fitting wise

Not sure if this is the same panel but on the back of the main instrument panel we are currently building up for our TT18 WH887 is the serial number WH797 which was a T.22, is there alot of difference between the two:confused:
All the best Matt;)
Hi Matt,
Yes I bought the panel seperate from the canberra WH887, with a load of clocks , which i gave you with wh887 , also the panel from wk124,
I believe the Canberra WH797 is at Boscombe down , or was, i found some pics on Airliner.net of WH797 .rasberry ripple one if i remember correctly
Wh797 in Fradu too, many years ago, and originally built as a PR.7
ended her days at hanningford metals ,early 1990s
Just a thought Matt,
you also have the panel from WK124, which was a TT18, from Memory I dont think there were any differences regarding the actual panel ,

You could always tuck away at T.22 panel for when you finish your TT.18

The current version (post Tans c/w HSI) is still nailed into position on the 3 birds at Kemble and probably the gate guard.
There were two previous versions (pre Tans and post Tans c/w zero reader) but I have not seen any on the market yet.
175 has a pre Tans fitted but it should be a post Tans c/w zero reader and I’m looking at cutting new metal next year if an example does not surface.
I intend to post a page showing the upgrades in Pilot and Nav compartment ready for the Airfix release at the end of the year.
