The (even more) merged Vulcan thread once again.

Heard that VTST were rolling Vulcan XH558 out of the hangar 31st August

Decided to ring campaign headquarters at Wimbourne on Friday to see if FRIENDS were going to get an invite..

The Muppet there, immediately said nothing to do with him…Brunty dealing.. but ..says I.. don’t you control Friends Database? He replied… yes, but I have not been told what is going on….. from which we must assume the answer is NO…. to all 20,000 of us????

Therefore asked to speak to Mrs Irwin… then, said Muppet, got very flustered and cagey, yours truly then started to pressure him for an answer… where was she???

Finally slipped out that she is in France for a number of weeks….

How the hell can she control the rollout from France…. Think of the telephone charges to start with???

So decided to visit Brunty, which I did today, and see what I could find out???

First thing I hear in the museum is…

That due to Mrs Irwin’s inabillity to bring forward a sponsor, the engineering team are on a one month redundancy notice…. unless a sponsor can be found..

Project close down 31st August….. Roll Out Day?????

As I have said before on this forum, and got slapped for it, What is going on within VTST…. Rollout and Close down all on the same day??

Next thing I hear is Dr R Pleming is on the sick which makes it even more stupid for her to be abroad.

Luckily, Denis has the hangar open with visitors… presentation, stories are up to their usual very high standard…but…. The body language is wrong… the passion is still there …but….. the light and the fire has gone from his eyes…… he is a worried man… not for himself I believe, but….. for his beloved aircraft.

He too was very cagey and defensive, when pressed about Mrs Irwin…

Something is very rotten in the state of VTTS…. Come on it’s our money shes playing with……whats going on????

It would though prevent yet more ill informed potentially libelous, childish tittle tattle from being added to the previous out pourings of the obviously moderator sponsored anti XH-558 thread.

Perhaps a clean sheet thread thread would allow a period of reflection by all?

Interesting point about the clean sheet thread idea.

It seems that we mods are damned if we close threads – “restricting discussion” etc etc, and damned if we leave them open.

Thread temporarily locked while I discuss the notion of a clean sheet thread with the other moderators. Thread will either reopen, or a new thread will be created sometime this afternoon. I would appreciate your patience in the matter good people!

*UPDATE* A new discussion thread has been opened here: http://forum.keypublishing.co.uk/showthread.php?p=998159#post998159 . This thread will remain locked. Please feel free to continue your discussions (minus the insults) in the new thread. I believe that keeping this thread open will only perpetuate the bitterness and illfeeling that seems to have dogged it. Maybe this can be avoided in the new thread? Well a girl can hope!

Your suggestion is noted. However with the momentous date of the roll-out fast approaching it’s hard to see what purpose would be served by closing a thread that will, inevitably, reopen within days.

VTTSCM and Whitworth –

So, do you imagine all of the above helped the positive discussion on the Vulcan or damaged it? I would imagine that if you are as closely involved with the Vulcan as you seem to be you are ambassadors for the project – if you purport to speak for VTS/TVOC then perhaps you should take a leaf from Denis’ book.

A stand up row with a young 17 year old who is just starting to become involved in aircraft preservation does you no credit – I would imagine that he and his generation are precisely the type of people you WANT to be behind the project?

EN830 – stop being naughty 🙂

fair point moggy.

As others rightly say, lots of growing to be done, maybe not growing but maturing because some of the grown ups need to mature from what i have read in this thread

AAAAH all is explained…. you have been around Texan Tomcat and Phil Turland too long you are even parrotting their posts of 12-13months ago when they were asked to vacate the hangar some 4weeks after the agreed date they had made with TVOC.

As to beating you up? this actually highlights your immaturity.. sensible adults don’t get into fights, they discuss things..

Secretiveness?? did you ever go to the hangar and ask to have a look.. Denis is there and quite knowlegable about all aspects of the project and would have gladly expained all things to you..

Paying to see the aircraft??? tell me have you ever been to Ironbridge museum for instance or any privatly run charitable institution and not had to pay for the privilage……I think not…… as to 558? all donations{for that is what they were} went towards the matched funding required by the lottery grant, how else were they to raise the said matched funding????

Suggest you go and talk to Denis in the hangar, and tell him I sent you..

:dev2: :dev2: :dev2: :dev2:

I would like to point out to you, we vacated the hanger on the day we were asked to vacate the hanger. any extension, (you state 4 weeks) was agreed

as i said before, this thread is not contributing to anything any longer and i suggest to the moderator it is closed.

finally, the person who made the comments about the aircraft jumping off it’s jack is i would hope regretting their remark. In the interests of politeness the name will remain un-disclosed at this time. Politeness seems to have gone from this thread

Chirpy, never been known for that but working 15hour shifts tends to make you a little jaded at times hence the early hours posting, and by the way tried contacting the office more than once, no one at home, guess they were all out outside eating biscuits maybe and as to asking questions, seems to some that those that do are ridiculed mercilessly by those that should know better maybe folks would be better informed if the website was updated on a regular basis rather than leaving it too this forum and other like it to chew over the little that has come out. As to any of the principles making any effort to contact me with information, I will not hold my breath they should have far better things to be doing and about the roll out, it was not in anyway mocking the situation and had you read al the concerned posts on all three forums you would have understood the elation that people were feeling at the sight of her being pushed in an out, missed it myself but the posted picture said it all really and the jovial comments about this event were a reflection of the sight.

As too VTTSCM, all I have to say there is ‘can it’, if anything I have posted has disturbed anyone that badly they know exactly were I can be contacted and I will be happy too cover any points that they have issue with, if I am wrong then I will certainly offer an apology, if not then hell will freeze before I retract a single word. having put two vintage airframes back in the air myself I am well aware of the problems that can be encountered along the way and the resources required, the fact that they don’t have loud and expensive engines or masses of electrical systems does not detract from the fact that I have already done what the TVOC team are now attempting, and yes I met the same sort of doubters along the way that at times surface on these forums and overcame it all in the end to have the same feelings that all will have when the XH558 project is completed, one of satisfaction and nothing more.

Threats of physical violence.

That is one level past personal insult isn’t it?

Yes it would be and results in instant banning without any ‘right of appeal’

However in this case the threat was assumed from something written earlier which, with the best will in the world, I can’t see was actually a threat

… it’s a pity I no longer live in the area, having just moved house, I would have been quite happy to show you the error of your ways

I’m not storming off in a hissy fight or anything, I was just saying there’s no point in keeping on arguing over something as it’s not really going to change much, there’s no point in having a slanging match over it so it’s best to just leave it and get on to talking about other things. Most of what I heard I admit was second hand, as I wasn’t around at Bruntingthorpe at the time, and that’s what I formed my opinions from. I am perfectly happy to be proved wrong and be shown that what I said was wrong, there’s just not much point in calling people idiots etc just because of it

This is going to be my last post in this thread, for two reasons

a) because i’ve got better things to do and
b) because fighting on the internet is, as one good friend once told me, like winning the special olympics, no matters who wins you’re still a retard.

I was told about the comment from the chief engineer by someone at Bruntingthorpe, and was simply stating it as one of several reasons why I don’t support the project. Just because I volunteer with Philip and Ben doesn’t mean I automatically take their same stance and become a ‘parrot’ of what they say as you assume. I decided not to support the project a good while before I even considered volunteering at Bruntingthorpe, and trying to tell me that what I said is completely wrong isn’t going to change my stance on the project and whether i’ll donate money to it or not. I’m not totally against the project either, i’d love to see the Vulcan in the air, although unfortunately it now looks as if it’s going to happen

Sir,

a)you obviously don’t have better things to do

b) your good friend is plainly wrong !! retard or not ( your jouvenile, and, frankly, offensive description ) that person is still a gold medal winner – something which you cannot even aspire to !

When you grow up, you’ll realise that not everyone agrees with you and storming off in a hissy fit, when someone doesn’t, is most unbecoming. Learn to debate and when you have, come back.

Oh, and don’t rely on heresay to back up your argument…..you’ll get reamed !!!!!

mate, what are you on ( cow n gate, judging by your posts ).

If you ‘aint got something constructive to say, leave your snide comments ’til after the 31st. We’ll be inundated with if onlys then.

And, by the way, what ‘chief engineer’ are you talking about? Name or description. The ‘lead engineer’ on the project is far to astute to make ridiculous comments like this, especially knowing that some halfwit will reproduce it to further his own, misguided, agenda

What, so you’re saying that if you were still in the area, you’d come to Bruntingthorpe and beat me up?! Pretty much everything about the project has put me off, the secretness etc, making people pay to see an aircraft which they had already donated money for etc, plus the completely idiotic comment from the chief engineer who said that the air difference between outside the hangar and inside meant that when the hangar doors were opened the aircraft would jump off it’s jacks (didn’t seem to make a difference when I drove past it on weekdays when it was still on it’s jacks and the hangar doors were open) showed me that my money would be better off with someone else.
