At about 2.30pm on Tuesday, a Canberra (low, smokey and unmistakeable noise) flew low directly over my house in Peterborough, heading North-East. Unfortunately, I was trying to put my 2-year old daughter down for sleep at the time, so grabbing a camera was out of the question.
The strange thing is, wasn’t the last operational flight on the 24th June? In which case, what was it up to? A couple of AWACs flew in the same direction a couple of minutes afterwards, and we’ve definately had exercises involving GR5’s and Eurofighters in the last couple of days, but it seems unlikely that a Canberra has been called back to the colours!
Has anyone have any info on what has happened to it? Hopefully its gone to a museum. Whatever happens, it was great to see it, frankly probably the last time I’ll see one in flight – shame my daughter is too young to appriecate it!

Thanks
Thanks for the info – and fantastic pics. As another post said, you really caught the mood – I’m at least glad I caught a view as one of them flew over, truely a great sight.
