I can see me spending a lot of time visiting this forum with retirement looming! A few “highlights” from my past and continuing interest in aviation.
Lived in Hong Kong as a child and saw Sunderlands in the harbour and my first jet, a shiny silver Vampire at Kai Tak.
Lived in Honiton Clyst (Exeter) under the flight path. Mossie TT35s no problem from the bedroom window whilst doing homework.
Flew in Sedburghs & MkIIIs and went solo at Exeter.
First powered flight in an Anson (TX186).
Sat in Spitfire II P7350 (BBMF) whilst in RAF Colerne museum/store.
Final flight as a member of the CCF (RAF) Heles School Exeter was in a Chipmunk from Exeter in May 1960.
I live near Blackbushe, just wish it was as I remember from the 1950s. Can anyone confirm that the white Lancaster used for aerial survey work was NX739? In fact, was the aircraft a Lanc or possibly the replacement Lincoln? I seem to recall that the Blackbushe Lanc appeared in The Dambusters and was then scrapped. Another Blackbushe memory was getting myself “arrested” by Donald Bennett in 1961 for driving around the peri track without permission.
Whilst videoing BBMF at Farnborough last Friday, I had no idea that I would be sitting in the Lanc and Spit on Saturday, but that’s another story!

I remember what I was told was a Lancaster but now suspect was a Lincoln, in white, at Bassingbourn in September 1958.
Same aircraft, or were there several?

Any truth in the rumour of it merging with the new-found Russian Stirling supporters club? 😀
Are either going to make it to Legends?
Sorry…..had to ask 😉
Welcome Alan, watch out for flying Vulcans as well……

Welcome to the Forum.
White Lancaster at Blackbushe.
I remember both the Lancaster and later the Lincoln but not in white livery.
We have discussed this in the past here.
