Work in Progress at MAM

Apart from all the other stuff, also happening at MAM is a re-paint for the 11 Sqn F.6 Lightning and a ‘once-over’ for their Mystere thingy.

MAM Javelin Website

Mark’s site link for you…..

Thought I would pop in here and see how things are. Been away for a while (again) with some issues that keep me from my beloved Hunter 🙁 and a distinct lack of internet for a month didn’t help either…

Best I get back up there before Rob “tackles” my Hunter project which is handily right next to his Sea Vixen….. 😮

Don’t worry Pete, I’ll never have to tackle the Hunter. It has already had an overhaul by Malc and Gordy 😀

This is a rare Javalin and needs looking after……….please boss, let it be me!!!!

Rob, what happened to the two guys looking after the Javelin? It’s not that long since they finished a repaint. They had a website about it didn’t they.

It was a business man’s originally but couldn’t find anywhere else to keep it. He never did anything to it as he never really had the time so he donated it to us, so I believe.

Rob, I can’t remember the guys name, but I’m sure that for some years after he moved it to MAM he did work on the F.6 himself. I also think that money changed hands on transfer of the aircraft to MAM – but I could well be wrong on that.

Anyway I’m going to be offline as from tommorow night, because I’m moving house Thursday ……..YAY…….so I’ll leave you in the randy hands of Rob for a week or two, until i get my boadband up and running at the new house 😀 .

Timetable of events:

Wed:- Do some packing/go to MAM while the Mrs doing some more packing. 😀

Thurs:- Move house/go to MAM if I can shake her off for an hour or two. 😀 😀

Friday:- Mrs unpacking as I’m off to Farnborough!!!!!!!! 😀 😀 😀

Saturday:- Mrs leaves in disgust……….get more time tinkering with planes. :p

Well that’s the plan at least….problem is, she’s way too tolerant….bless

Well done guys looking good!
I seem to remember that the F6 Lightning was owned by a business man and that he left it there on loan, I recall speaking to him one year at a ‘wings and wheels day’ is this still the case and does he still look after it?
Alan.

Is Rob’s bromide for the safety of the local wildlife then?

The spilt paint, thinners and fag butts have threatened all the wildlife, so the bromide is my source for the silver paint you see on our aircraft 😀

Anyway, here’s a few more shots of the Frightning and the Mystery Machine!!

Today’s work in progress. 🙂

The ‘Frightening’ is really starting to look good now, and the Mystere is also coming along nicely. 😀

The mental image of you lot wearing leotards, rollers in hand, prancing around the aircraft is one I did not enjoy 😉

Is Rob’s bromide for the safety of the local wildlife then? 🙂

Roy.

mmmmmm……….best let Rob reply to that 😀 😀 😀

The guy who’s been working on it recently is an airframe fitter at Brize Norton, who after working on aircraft all week, comes along and helps us out on his days off 😮 (and a throughly nice gent he is too)

Dear God, I can only assume there is something akin to rocket fuel in the coffee .

No rocket fuel in the coffee Roy, just a rather ‘Mr Motivator’ type Cheif Engineer. 😉 (and before you ask, he’s not a black guy in a leotard 😀 😀 )

Mind you though, we do find a little Bromide is useful in Rob’s coffee. :p

Cheers

And yes Rob – I’ll bring my overalls !
