Post your excuses/reasons for staying away here.
Here’s mine:
At ten to six this morning a drunk uninsured driver plowed into the back of my car which was parked outside my house.
The driver was Polish, but any ‘Repeat Please’ gags are likely to fall on deaf ears.

Woke up at 6 to high winds and no visibility in rain. No way of making the 08:27 landing slot so said ‘****** it’ and went back to sleep.

Get to Prestwick Airport (Scotland) at 6:00 am for 6:50 am flight to Stansted, only to discover that it’s delayed until 2 PM!-Couldn’t possibly get to Duxford until at least 4PM!!-Was booked on the 22:00 flight BACK to Prestwick on Saturday ,so can’t even wait until Sunday!!! 😡
EXTREMELY peeved to say the least!-I won’t mention any airline,(R**anair),but will be protesting at the highest level.
Spent this evening getting drunk and thinking of Mustang tail chases! 🙁

and if I had have gone I would probably been subject to Pete Rushen yelling “chocks, drip trays, wing mats!!” at me….. LMFAO!!

Can’t quite match that, ZRX61… but the 3500 miles for me is a bit of a barrier too.

I’m 6500 miles away……

I’m decorating all of july – I had to cancel everything to get this house done so we can move to a cracker of a house we’re buying right under the approach to Biggin Hill, with enough garage space for all the cars – so it s all in a good cause 😀
still going to Fairford and Farnborough (with work) though 🙂

Tough Break ‘Lectra, been there myself, twice actually.
If you have fully comp cover, it SHOULD be covered, but I have never had a claim processed without a load of argy-bargy with the insurers, who never turn out to be as cuddly as their TV commercials might suggest. Good luck.

Well booked the ferry and so on to go to Fl with a good friend of mine. Same friend came down with a heart problem on thursday. That’s why am not going.

I would dearly like to be there but must settle for Reno in September instead – hence I’m working now to save up for that trip.
That’s the way things go isn’t it? We have to make decisions about what to do in our lives. A pity you will not be here to enjoy it with us but I hope you enjoy Reno.
Lancman, you sir, have my sympathy and admiration. Carers for the disabled/severely ill are a much undervalued force, relieving the medical services of a lot of work.

And besides.. why go to it when there is so much excellent coverage here!

Why I’m not (and almost never) go to Leg-ends-
1. I live 200 miles away, and my wife is the only driver here
2. I’m her carer, and she has limits to how much she can do
3. We’re rather poor.
How I wish the good old St Athan At Home day was still going…

you might have to claim through the Motor Insurance Bureau, for which you will have to make a formal complaint to the police about the driver concerned, you can believe me from first hand experience recently that the police will only be interested in the fact that the bloke was drunk, stand your ground and make them take the complaint, note all the PC’s collar numbers etc that you have dealings with too….good luck,it took us nearly a year to get ours resolved to our satisfaction…

Car is my excuse for missing All Airshows this month. Engine Killed by the Cosford Flooding on Tuseday.

Won’t your own insurance pick up the case, and pay for a hire car, etc?
Anyway, my excuse is “money” and “distance”.

“You can teach monkey’s to drive better than that”. At least your alive and well and not injured or worse. Always look on the bright side of things. I hope the police are going to charge the sod involved?

That’s terrible news. Why is it that you never get rear ended by people with insurance?
