Bruntingthorpe Volpar

Maybe I should have posted this before.

PT Barnum, the owner of the Volpar Beech 18 suffered at the “hands” of a speeding driver a few weeks ago……….He was knocked off his Harley and badly injured.

Broken Nose, Broken Leg, Smashed Hip.

He has to have a complete hip replacement and his injuries mean he is out of action for possibly six months.

This is very sad news and we all wish the chap well i am sure.

Well regarding the Volpar. Beech Restorations will be undertaking the upkeep of the Beech until PT is back with us. We have re-installed the airbox and run both engines. All cowlings are undergoing remedial work prior to painting.

The whole aircraft will be stripped of paint and re-painted in a Blue and Cream scheme.

We would love to put her in our hanger but really that wont be possible.

More engine runs tomorrow and also some taxi runs……….my turn to learn

If anyone is interested in doing a bit of paint stripping to help us/him out we would be pleased to hear from you guys.

No problem, was good to get involved with something plus it beats sitting at home waiting to go out all day! Should be back down tomorrow if Leo’s going (he’s giving me a lift) and should be there on Saturday as well. The ride in the Beech sure was great, looking at the scheme you’ve got planned for her she’ll look great. See you soon, Rob

Rob, Thanks for your help yesterday, sorry it was a bit of a messy job but it is very important and extremely satisfying when a coat of paint is applied.

Hope you enjoyed your “ride” in the Beech, we don’t always do that.

We hope you can come up again, I think you would be good to have on-board

cheers

Good Work Mr Langham – dont forget your camera so you can get some snaps for the website –

Advance warning that its my housewarming on friday and various forumites will be attending so I imagine a few of us may be a bit broken come saturday morning…

Still at least there wont be any automatic gunfire from Phils FG42 this time 😉

Cheers Rob, I think Ben (TT) is gonna show you about on saturday, i/we are there on sunday this week (we usually do saturday).

The Volpar Beech is having the cowlings worked on at present, not a lot to do on those, most of that is done already.

We need to get the stripping underway, this might be relatively easy. You will see what i mean on saturday…..there are a couple of other chaps with us working on the new hanger, T-6, Beech 18 x 2 and such like……..ANY help you can give is really appreciated.

hope to see you on sunday………..

cheers
